Tooo long

Its been WAY too long since my last post. I knew this blogging thing was going to be difficult for me. Top 10 things that happened to me since the last post:
10. Andrew took me shopping for our anniversary and I got some really cute stuff!
9. Monday the 15th I found out I matched to an obgyn residency. Didn't know where yet, but at least I knew I matched.
8. Wednesday the 17th my mom and sister came in town, and "surprised" me by bringing my cousin too. Then we went and hung out for St. Patty's day and I got to wear cute shamrock stickers on my face!
7. Thursday found out I would be doing my residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, which was my first choice! I am very excited to be moving back home close to my family.
6. Friday was Andrew's birthday and we went to the horse races which was super fun. Didn't win really, but lots of people came and there was a dessert buffet...
5. Saturday night was my 4th year class banquet for medical school. I taught a few people how to play craps (sp?) and had a dance party with lots of friends...what a great way to finish this long journey with good people! I'm really going to miss them!
4. I had a whole lot of nothing to do this week, which included sleeping in, reading a new book, taking the girls to the dog park, etc.
3. I finished my obligations as president of the obgyn student association and can pass on all the stress and annoyance I've dealt with this year to the new president.
2. Izzie had her first training class yesterday and didn't flunk out. Hopefully she will continue to learn every week and become the good little pug that she needs to be.
1. Baylor just beat St. Mary's and are going on to the Elite 8! So proud to be a bear!

Doggy Love

I love my girls, all three of them, but I am and always have been a dog person. There is just something about being able to take your dog places and do fun things with them, run around, throw things for them to catch, and see the joy it brings them. This weekend we took the girls to the SPCA Mutt Strut, a fundraiser 1 mile walk/run for the SPCA. THEY LOVED IT! Even though Izzie took about 10 minutes to stop barking, whining, squeeling at everything that moved, she finally calmed down and was quite well behaved. All of their doggy friends came to the strut too and we had a grand time!

In other news, my sweet husband and I celebrated our two year anniversary on Monday. We had a romantic dinner at Vic and Anthony's Steakhouse Monday night, and tonight are going to see Brad Paisley tonight at the rodeo!

TGIF...TBIDFB

Thank goodness its Friday. This has been a long week of sitting in class listening to frou frou lectures about how to be the physician we want to be, how to give good feedback to the students when we are residents, how to balance family and career, challenges of being a woman and a physician, etc, etc, etc.

Too Bad I Don't Feel Better. On top of being bored all day in class, I've also been sick all week. I had high hopes of getting a really good night's sleep last night and feeling better today. Didn't happen. I couldn't breath all night because I was so congested, so I didn't rest, and I don't feel better. I really want to plant myself on the couch for the rest of the weekend and not move. However, Andrew has a high school friend coming in town tonight and we'll have to entertain him tonight, then we have the Mutt Strut early tomorrow morning. I'm excited to take the girls to the strut and get them some fresh air and exercise, but I just hope I'm well enough to enjoy it.
As I've been sitting here blogging, Izzie has run around the living room and gotten all her toys and put them in my lap. She loves to chew. She loves to sit on top of me while she chews. She's sooo cute. And now some pictures, because I love my girls!
Here is a crazy pug, so happy and excited to see you!
This is her calmed down a little...rare occurrence, but when she does, she is the sweetest baby ever.
Here is Sadie girl, confused about why Izzie won't just lay down and be quiet. She has sad eyes.
This is what Lola usually looks like... lazy, and almost mean...
But this is what she looks like right now... cute and mischevious... just how I like her best.

A Puggy Problem

A week ago I went to visit my friend Haley "Riggs" Smith who just moved to Houston about 2 weeks ago. I took Izzie so that Haley could meet her, and so that she could chase her son, Grayson, around and wear him out for her. Also I wanted to wear Izzie out too, and Haley has a backyard, so it was win-win for all parties. I can't wait to have a backyard. Usually Izzie won't get off your lap when we're in the car, and she prefers the drivers seat. If Andrew and I go on a road trip, she'll always sit in Andrew's lap unless I hold her in mine against her will. WELL, this particular day, I knew I had accomplished my goal of wearing her out because she left my lap for the first time ever and went to sleep in the passenger seat. UNBELIEVABLE! Here's a picture so you'll believe it...

Over the past month or so, we've succeeded in teaching Izzie to sit when you are holding a treat or before you pour her food in the bowl. However, she won't do it any other time, and the rest of her behavior is out of control. We got Izzie almost a year ago and although the cutest little smooshy face I've ever seen, and the best snuggler this side of the Mississippi, she hasn't been very easy to train. She barks at everything that moves, practically chokes herself when we go on a walk, and goes nuts when people come over. After she turned 1 year old a couple of weeks ago, I realized that we have to get this under control before she gets too old....you can't teach an old dog new tricks. So as of yesterday, Izzie is signed up for a beginner dog training class! It starts March 17th, every Wednesday at 7pm for 8 weeks. Hopefully she will learn things...I'll let you know how it goes.

Blog

Hello hello bloggers, I'm joining your ranks! I'm going to attempt this blogging thing for a while. We'll see if I actually write anything, and if I do, if its anything more than pointless rambling. It will probably consist mostly of pictures of my girls: Lola the cat, Izzie the pug, and Sadie our sweet mutt. They fill my life with joy, and when I'm not at school or at the hospital, most of my time is filled entertaining them.

Mine and Andrew's life will be heading in a new direction starting in a few months, and we'll know more about which direction its heading in just 2 short weeks when we find out where I will be doing my residency in ObGyn. Hopefully my blog will be able to document this new journey...as long as I remember to write! Welp, thats all I'll say for now. Hope to see you soon!
